The children have very much been enjoying story telling and drama. We have extended on this interest by providing various props to enable them to dramatize stories for themselves. It has been great to see the way that the children have organized themselves to ensure that they have enough characters to tell each story, and that everyone has a turn to be different characters within a story.
As the children have retold the stories they have become more familiar and confident in their portrayal of their characters voice, as well as dramatic interpretation of their role. The story teller, either a child or Kaiako, has had to be adaptable and creative as the children improvise their role, adding their own additions and endings to the story.
It has been wonderful to see the children grow in confidence as they creatively express themselves.
