During a raining day, I got my ukulele out to do an impromptu music session with the children. Liliana asked me if she could bring her ukulele in the next day and the answer was ‘of course’. Liliana practices the ukulele at home with her older brother and this was a great opportunity for her to share her interest from home. We had a jam session and chose a couple of songs to do at mat time together. Liliana was so confident in her playing and skills and all the children enjoyed doing ‘Mrs Bunny’ and ‘row your boat’ to our ukulele rhythm. At Foxton Kindergarten we encourage children to share their special strengths and interests and foster opportunities to take on a leadership role.
