Kapa Haka has been a strong focus for our tamariki for the past few terms. As part of extending our tamariki interest and to develop and strengthen relationships with Kaiako and tamariki at Te Arawaru bilingual unit at Central Normal School we were invited to participate in one of their Friday kapa haka practices.
Matua Kapene welcomed us in and we sat for a while and watched as the tuakana warm up. Then our tamariki joined the tuakana on the floor and all together we sung 'kimihia'. Kimihia is one of their waiata that we have been learning at Kindergarten.
Kimihia, kimihia (Hunting for kai)
