Celebrating Janet

Makino Kindergarten

This term marked a very special occasion for the community of Makino Kindergarten as they acknowledged and celebrated 25 years of exceptional service to the kindergarten by Janet Bird, their volunteer worker.

To celebrate this milestone Makino Kindergarten put out the red carpet and threw her an ice cream and jelly party, complete with cake and 25 helium balloons. Janet was awarded with a gold medal and certificate of ‘Outstanding Achievement’ for service to the kindergarten community.

Janet says that her work at Makino is very important to her, which is evident from the outstanding commitment she has made over the past 25 years. Janet is looking forward to continuing with this dedication into the future.

Mayor Helen Worboys was in attendance to present Janet with a community honours award, and Janet will soon see her name engraved on the Community Honours board at the Manawatu District Council.

The Makino community are grateful and extremely appreciative of Janet’s commitment, kindness, care and incredible sense of humour over the years. The contribution that Janet has made to the kindergarten is priceless, she is a valued member of the team and an extremely important part of the Makino Kindergarten community.
