Tucked at the end of a cul-de-sac down a quiet residential street, Feilding Kindergarten is a newly awarded Enviroschool with brilliant resources, passionate teachers and a beautiful, creative environment where bilingual awareness thrives.
Since term 4 2016, Feilding Kindergarten has focused on increasing its bicultural awareness and has actively woven te reo Māori into its daily routines, through introducing wā kotahitanga.
“We start each day gathered together to welcome one another and share news – one by one our children share their unique pepeha and continue the dialogue through waiata,” explains Head Teacher Sally Bruton.
“Children, whānau and teachers engage in valuable dialogue, using te reo, making connections, growing in confidence and celebrating the individual identities of our tamariki.”
